Thanking Andrej

I just want to thank Andrej over at DP with helping me out on some blog themes the last couple days. He made some changes for me to themes I was using, which I couldn’t do on my own. Andrej provides free Wordpress themes over at WPmix.com, so check them out.

Thanks, Andrej!

Augusts’s World Domination Summary

My quest for World Domination hit a few roadblocks last month. Revenue was down everywhere where I’m currently making money, and I had some serious issues with my Directory Network. First, the summary:

Adsense: $21.56

Directory Submissions: $600

Blog posts (other blogs): $12

Total: $633.56

Not nearly as good as last month. Adsense was down, even though I had quite a few more impressions coming in from sites I added Adsense to. This blog makes mere pennies when it comes to Adsense. Directory Network submissions were down, as I had a lot of problems there - the main site was hacked and I had to upgrade to the newer version of eSyndiCat across all the directories. That was not a fun experience. I still need to get deeplinks for the upgraded version, which that mod is hopefully out this week. After that, the sites still need work done here and there, and I feel that I need a custom template. More work and more money to spend, sigh…

Lastly, I kicked off this whole quest right at the time Google decides to not update their toolbar Page Rank for the longest time ever. We’re still waiting, and it’s been over 4 months now. I realize chasing Page Rank is not The Answer, but link sales, link exchanges, directory submissions, and so many other money making efforts are directly or indirectly tied to Page Rank. I could really use at least one update before they do away with the Page Rank toolbar. At the very least, it would be an indicator of success for my efforts so far.

Despite these setbacks, my quest for World Domination will continue!

DMOZ Gets Ugly

Today over at Shoemoney, Shoe relates a story where a DMOZ editor contacted him and wanted $5000 or he would remove Shoe’s listing in DMOZ! Pretty pathetic. Unfortunately, when Shoe told him to take a hike, he got delisted!

I wonder how much money DMOZ editors make, and if I should become one…lol

Quick Indexing Tool Update

Well, it took a little longer to get the blog I was setting up indexed using the Quick Indexing Tool I talked about a few days ago. It actually took 5 days to get indexed, which is much longer than the 24 hour example that was mentioned, but probably quicker than submitting your site to the search enginges (that can take weeks). So, not extraordinary, but probably worth it.

Quick Indexing Tool

I stumbled across a quick indexing tool by Blue Hat Seo. The tool uses various techniques to get your site indexed quickly; the example he provided was a site that was indexed in less than 24 hours. It’s a good little tool to get indexed, and one of the methods he uses to quickly index your site is social bookmarking sites, so it’s worth it to try out. I just submitted a site, so we’ll see how it goes. The tool is here, and you can read the blog post here.

SEOHosting Follows Up With An Email And Phone Call To Improve Customer Relations

Yesterday (Friday) when I got home I had a message on my answering machine from Chad at SEOhosting.com. If you’ve been reading (I know, probably nobody is), I was rather frustrated with seohosting in earlier posts. Apparently Chad was doing some searches on SEOhosting.com and came across my mad ranting, and decided to give me a call.

Chad apologized for my troubles, and said he wanted to make sure everything worked out ok. I told him I was frustrated with my experience and lost several days of work while I was trying to get hosting issues resolved, and was less than pleased with online support, but I’m good to go now. Chad gave me personal contact information for me to get a hold of him if I need anything, and he said he’d give me unlimited lifetime SEOhosting for free for my troubles. No, really, I’m sure it’s in the voice transcript (Chad, you’ve got that, right?).

Chad’s phone call tells me that SEOhosting at the very least has a clue and is a good indicator that they actually care about customer satisfaction. It’s a good sign. Chad told me that I was only the 40th or so SEOhosting customer, so they are VERY new, and they’re working out their training and support kinks.

This gives me some faith that they’re going to be doing a better job from here on out.
